Episode 1.15 “Cor-ai”
Planetary Tally: P3X1279, a planet Teal’c recognizes as being Chartago
Season/Series Total: 14

"Oh yeah, I remember this place."
Episodic References: “The Nox”--Jack tells Daniel “it’s important that we respect our elders” which could be a call-back to the lesson they learned from the Nox. “Children of the Gods”--Daniel recounts Sha’re abduction and selection as the Goa’uld host. “Bloodlines”--they make reference to the fact that Teal’c has a family he abandoned on Chulak.
Quote(s) of the Week:
Daniel: That’s interesting. I wonder if everyone is coming from some religious event.
Jack: Why does it always have to be a religious thing with you? Maybe they’re coming from a swap meet.
Daniel: Now, near as I can figure, that is like a simple trial.
Jack: Now see, it’s that “near as I can figure” part that’s got me a little worried.
Daniel (referring to Jack): Well, it’s just that I’ve never actually heard you referred to as a “diplomat.” I think um, “antagonist” was the word used.
Jack: The whole concept of chain of command undermines the idea of free will.
Jack: Teal’c, you’re going back with us if I have to knock you out and carry you myself.

Teal’c, you’re going back with us if I have to
knock you out and carry you myself.—Jack

Daniel Obsession:
What’s the Daniel of it?: Daniel guesses that the people are returning from a religious event, but really they were just hiding from the Goa’ulds. When Teal’c is taken into custody, Daniel prevents Jack from taking Teal’c off-planet by force and suggests that they respect the laws of the Bysra and allow what he believes is a trial to take place. Daniel mostly plays translator and explains that most cultures have a guilty until proven innocent philosophy. Daniel tries to explain the American judicial system to the Bysra--specifically the concept of impartiality. At the “sentencing trial,” Daniel tells the story of what happened to Sha’re and confirms that while it was at first difficult for him to work with Teal’c, that he now understands that Teal’c has changed and he is a friend. Daniel takes a stroll into the village and finds out that the Bysra have hidden caves where they live. He also discovers that they hide in family groups and that they don’t leave any member of their group behind--meaning that the slowest member slows everyone down. Daniel is tasked with buying time for Jack and Sam to bring reinforcements. Daniel fails to win Teal’c his freedom, but Teal’c earns it on his own.

"Yes, losing Sha're was terrible. But then I
met Alli and suddenly losing Sha’re didn’t matter..."
Translation Time/Artifact Alley: Daniel notes that “circ” is derived from Latin, but “kakona” is Greek--it's weird to find two different root languages in one culture. Their name for the Stargate is “Circle of Woes.” Daniel figures out that “cor-ai” is a trial, that the “voice” is like a lawyer, and that the “pecca-ve” (a Latin word) is like a confession (it means “I have sinned”).

Teal’c, you’ve been a bad monkey.
Caffeine Habit:
Headgear:
Bandana: Season/Series Total: 1
Flak Helmet: Season/Series Total: 9
Fly Hat: Season/Series Total: 2

The dramatic ‘pulling-off-the-glasses’ wins sympathy every time.
Oh, Danny Boy: Season/Series Total: 4
Shooting a Load: Season/Series Total: 4
Mop Up, Aisle 5: 8--Daniel trying to figure out what “Cor-ai” means; Daniel has a smoldering look directed at Jack; Daniel smug; Daniel being chastised by Jack; Daniel looking into the cage at Teal’c (twice); Daniel glasses-less--GUH; Daniel looking determined

Daniel can melt thingslike my heart using his eyes.
Jack looks really hot when he’s being all commandery and fondling his gun.
A Jack Moment:

Gee, he doesn't look happy.
The SGC must be out of lime jello.
