Is There a Doctor in the House?

I'm looking for someone well-versed in anatomy—specifically the heart and the electrical impulses in the body—to help me with some research. I can use my google-fu all I like, but sometimes google doesn't yield the exact answers I need (and, um, I never took anatomy so I need someone to dumb down some of the technical stuff for me).

I have a few very specific questions so I shouldn't take up too much of your time (unless you'd like to become my medical expert in which case, I'm sure I will have MANY more questions).

Thanks!

(Recommendations of who to ask or where to ask are also welcome. Is there a medical community like [livejournal.com profile] military_beta?)

I used to tutor biology...I can give it a shot...it really depends precisely what you want to know.

[livejournal.com profile] skadi is a pre-med student, plus she's super cool. And she likes Buffy!

Could you point her to this post? I'd hate to show up knocking uninvited. ;)

There's a comm [livejournal.com profile] science_beta, and they cover medical questions. :-)

I'm part of that comm, and it's not very active, sadly.

This has nothing to do with your post whatsoever, but I thought I would share it with you just in case you'd decided to forgive the draperies and might be interested in JKR's take on the Veil of Doom. ;)

Well, I have degrees in biology, though my "expertise," such as it is, lies more with plants and bacteria. I have had a couple animal anatomy courses, though, so I could try to answer questions. I could at least maybe define some of the technical stuff?

Hey, Chrysta sent me over. I'm a first year med student, but we just covered the heart in both anatomy and medical physiology. (Next Friday's test involves EKG and whatnot, actually.) I could definitely look at your questions and see if I can help. If I'm unsure, though, I'll let you know - I don't want to give you the wrong info.

My email is lordofchaos (at) gmail (dot) com.

Have you tried [livejournal.com profile] little_details? They have an extensive list of tags, too. I find myself exploring the comm when I look for info there.

There was a community on Yahoo! called fanfic_med that had a ton of info and people who could answer the tough questions.
