Sure. Right. Uh-huh. :-D
Just got two new Wizard Rock EP's yesterday!!!! (I think it's the last two from last year's EP-of-the-month-club.) Hooray for the new car - it has a CD player - hubby said, "Let's put them in!" So we listened to Family by Draco and the Malfoys while we ran errands. Dude! They have totally changed their sound - it's angsty-heavy-metal now and it sounds as if they now have violins (!). Very cool. Haven't listened to the new one by Dumbledore yet.
(Of course the first CD we played in the new car was a Wizard Rock CD - Ministry of Magic's Triwizard LP IIRC. Gotta start these things out right!)
Y'know, when I first got the Triwizard LP I wasn't overly impressed with the songs that were new to me, but last night I was totally rocking out to everything.
I LOVE WROCK! :D
There will be some wrock posts from me soon. I have much to share.
I finally looked at the actual packaging (not something I could do while driving) and it's a concept album - the individual songs are numbered as movements rather than given titles, and the whole thing is supposed to hang together.

I know what you mean! It takes a while, and then it grows on you, and you find yourself humming "The Hero" a propos of nothing.
BTW, it occurs to me that "Ascendio" is really narrated by Voldemort rather than Harry, since Harry was told about Hogwart's by Hagrid, not Dumbledore... ("today I met a man whose name was Albus... soon I'll go to a place that he called 'Hogwarts'") so now I try to make the words fit Voldemort and it winds up being quite weird and ironic. What do you think?
I already had "The Hero," "Accio Love," and "Snape vs. Snape," and on first listen I didn't like the other songs as much. However, I think I was just grumpy because now I am madly in love with most of the songs. "Escape from Azkaban" and "Maraduer's Map" made me very happy this morning. ♥

There's lyrics about being "the Boy who lived," though. I think it was just that "Albus" fit better than "Hagrid." ;) Plus, there's some line about "hanging my head" that isn't even Tom Riddle as an eleven year old.
I'd love to hear a song that mirrors Harry's and Tom's backgrounds. I think that would be really cool.
I agree - that seems to be the primary obstacle to the Tom interpretation.

It would be!
I had only heard "Snape vs. Snape" when I bought the CD, so the rest was all new to me. I *love* "Marauder's Map" - I also have a sneaking affection for "Pensieve Diggory" even if the verses are a bit emo. It has this Linkin Park metal-rap vibe that I'm a sucker for.
(Sorry: it's National Grammar Day. "for which I am a sucker"!)
