Once a Happening Place

This post isn't really saying much other than "Hi, I'm still alive."

My journal isn't so much a happening place any more. This depresses me greatly. Probably the biggest contributing factor to my absence is work, but also I'm just not as excited about lj as I was before. I'm not sure when the change happened, or if it's been something that's been happening and I just hadn't really noticed or what, but I'm definitely not revolving my life around lj any more. (That is possibly a good thing, though.)

Monday marks yet another deadline, so hopefully I'll dig out some time for internetly things after that.

*waves in a still-alive sort of way*

Yeah, I've noticed. I miss your daily addition into my life. (that's not the right word, but I can't think of a better one right now)

I was just looking at pictures of us at Disney World. *dreams* Ah...good times! So...when can I come back? :P

Glad you're still alive. *waves back*

I miss my daily flist enjoyment, too. It's rather depressing to not have time at work to surf for brief moments and then go home and be so tired that even reading about people's lives via the internet sounds exhausting.

I'm really looking forward to this portion of the project being finished. This will mark the 2/3 complete mark. Yay!

You can come back as soon as I get the guest room straightened again. McKay kind of took over in there and um, I just try not to go in there right now. . . .

Too worky to write. Which totally sucks. :( But I have been thinking that I need to finish one of my SG-1 WIPs, so hopefully I'll make some time for one of them soon.

are you still in sg-1, or do you have new loves now?

This makes me laugh buckets.

I've been trying to get Harry Potter out of my system by reading tons and tons of fanfic when I have the chance, but I have by no means left SG-1. When I think of fanfic I still primarily think of SG-1 and I'm already coming up with stuff for next year's Dragon*Con Stargate Track. Don't worry, no matter how many new shows I watch, I'm quite sure SG-1 is here to stay.

just curious.... i don't really have the capacity to juggle too many fandoms at once, so i was just asking.... i always keep a toe in LOTR, because, you know. Tolkien is like my religion! but i'm still 90 percent sg-1.

i loved the HP books and the movies, but it's so funny -- i read some highly recced fanfic and really tried to give it whirl, because several people I just adored from LOTR went there, and I would have loved to stay in a fandom with them, but the fanfic did exactly nothing for me. i thought that was really weird.

we just fall in love with whatever, don't we?

happy HPing and keep in touch!

It's happening! It's just happening sporadically. That makes it even better, because of the unpredictability factor.

The last couple of years, from January to March/April time, I've been completely apathetic to LJ, but then I come back and it's much as before.

Also? I just finished S3 SGA and S10 SG1 and I'm in such a totally utterly gleeful place. *is all happy*

And yeah, that doesn't help at all with your current blah-ness. But... glee by association? Yeah, that's what I'm aiming for. *g* *hugs*

OMG. You're caught up? That's the first time in forever! :D I'm so happy that you're caught up. Think of all the wonderful fic that will no longer spoil you! ;)

I think a large part of the blah is just being drained by work. But hopefully things will be cool again soon.

I think this is the first time ever in my entire Stargate viewing career that I'm up to date. And there is so much glee. And fic! My only trauma will be casting-spoiler(s?)-that-I-refuse-to-acknowledge-I-[may]-know. But realistically, I'm insanely busy/slash hating work, and the S4 is some time in the next few weeks, so hopefully I should be safe, ie not have the time to read before I'm caught up. And how sad that I'm talking about catching up when I've actually seen all aired episodes. *headdesk*

But fic! Glee! Caught up! Glee! And have I mentioned fic? I am not at all high right now. *g*

I'm totally with you on the work thing. I have so much hate for mine right now. *goes back to thinking about SG* *is happier* I might be just a little bit high.

Hi! This is the I-attended-your-panel-at-Dragon*con clueless one.
Thanks so much for all the lj and Stargate fanfic advice! I am new to fandom but old to the world, which means I am doubly clueless. I was looking at the age statistics for Live Journal -- I am way on the tail of that graph!

Read your fic "Five ways that Daniel tells Sam he's been sleeping with Jack." Esp. liked number 5. Glad your fic was affectionate toward all the characters. There is so much love between all the original team members, which is what hooked me on Stargate SG-1.

I even have to agree with your comment on how there is more chemistry between Daniel and Jack than between Sam and Jack – even though I am a Sam/Jack shipper. I also love the interaction between Jack and Daniel. May have to write something slashy one day…

Re: Hi! This is the I-attended-your-panel-at-Dragon*con clueless one.
Hi! Glad you made it this far! And don't be worried by the overall stats at lj. They can't count people who don't list their DOB on their profiles and the Stargate fandom tends to be the northern part of the lj age stats. ;)

I'm glad you like the story. I try to always treat the characters with respect (no matter the situation). There's a reason why I like all of them, so it would be silly to vilify Sam just because I prefer Jack with Daniel.

Woot! I fully encourage new slashy writers. I do write pretty much everything, but I lean towards the slashy side. Almost half of my SG-1 fic is Jack/Daniel. I swear I didn't mean to do that. ;)

I'm glad you found your way over here! Don't be shy.

Re: Hi! This is the I-attended-your-panel-at-Dragon*con clueless one.
Well, I am pretty shy, actually (or introverted, anyway). But I spent literally the whole night surfing LJ. I tried to go to bed at about 4 am but was still wired so just kept going.

But it's not like I read a lot of fan fic or anything! Mostly, I looked for and downloaded icons. I have discovered the wonderful world of icon art! I was thinking about my story, which has 23 chapters, which I figure I will post to my journal as 23 entries, and it would be cool to find an icon appropriate for each chapter, but you can only have 15 userpics, and if you switch them out any that you removed get replaced by your default, which sucks. But I notice that paid accounts get 30 user pics, plus you can be notified about a thread instead of the whole entry apparently (still confused about the whole notification thing). Anyway, I might cough up the $2 a month for that.

Plus I think I might add another entry to my journal showing the picture of myself and Michael Shanks, but making it private to certain friends only (you included). I am leery of putting pictures of myself or too much other personal info on the Net.

Anyway, thanks again for all your advice and encouragement! You are creating a monster.
