Save Wonderfalls

If by some chance you missed the magnificent show Wonderfalls, I truly feel for you. If I wouldn’t go to the special hell for saying so, I’d say that Wonderfalls is even better than Buffy. While that is possibly the highest honor that can be paid to the show, it’s also been praised by critics from Herc at Ain’t It Cool News to Kristin at E! Online (and others in between). And yet, Wonderfalls was canceled.

Fox passed on Wonderfalls, as has UPN, but wait—there is another. The WB has decided to review an episode of Wonderfalls along with its pilots for the fall season, which means WONDERFALLS IS IN THE RUNNING FOR THE FALL SEASON!

Send letters, postcards, and animal figurines of support to:

CEO, Warner Bros. Network

Please remember to be respectful even if you’re still boiling about the whole “Angel fiasco.”

Word. Well ok I'm not yet ready to say that Wonderfalls would have surpassed Buffy (although I think Firefly definitely would), but it was still a kick ass show and I hope it gets picked up by the WB. Maybe, just maybe I'll let them get away with canceling Angel if they pick up Wonderfalls.

p.s. Would it make me a traitor if I watch Dark Shadows next season on the WB? Because you know I liked the remake that I think it was NBC did.

Aw, hell no. After what they did to both Buffy and Angel while continuing to support Dawson’s Creek and Charmed (which are sub-quality shows in comparison, IMO), continue to be upset with the WB. Just understand that with “Hollywood politics” you’ll be better off continuing to eek out quality entertainment than cutting it off entirely. After all, when it comes to Nielson’s, one person boycotting doesn’t make a difference—particularly if that person doesn’t even have a Nielson’s box.

In regards to Dark Shadows, I’m willing to give it my usual 4-episode viewing. If a show can interest me in 4 episodes, I continue watching until it either (a) makes me want to kill myself (the experience I had with Dawson’s Creek) or (b) is cancelled. But knowing that it was probably a critical element in the crebil-ing of Angel, I may not be easily swayed. Also, I really liked the original Dark Shadows and I fear what may happen in the WB-ifying of it.

Good point. Nothing will really be gained by not watching Dark Shadows just because I think the WB has treated other shows unfairly. There are so few programs worth watching these days I like to get in on the good ones!

And at least the WB doesn't have the rep of canceling shows right out of the gate *coughFoxcough*. I haven't always been happy with their handling of Buffy and Angel but overall I think they are better than some networks.

Very true. But I hold a grudge against the WB for 3 reasons.

1. They stupidly killed Angel.
2. The message they aired with “The Gift” called it a “Buffy series finale” which confused everyone I knew and I then had to spend the summer telling everyone, “really, Buffy’s coming back.”
3. The message they aired with the Dawson’s Creek series finale touted it as “the show that built the network,” which is crap because Buffy put the WB on the map. That message was followed by about 10 full minutes of me cursing and railing.

Even so, the WB is willing to take more chances than the established networks. Then again, Fox used to take chances, too…

I guess I’m saying that I’m deeply ambivalent.
