What Makes Sinuses Better?

Apparently hot soup, a kitty, and Jack Bauer.

And "better" is not really a precise term. Right now it means not asleep and with less mucous-y breathing.

Anyway, the point of this is that I finally started watching Season 1 of 24.

Okay, so this is a Show of Crack. I started watching this morning on a whim and I'm now in the middle of episode 8. *flails*

So, I have to say that I really hate Nina. I find her really annoying and petty and I want to bitch slap her. How on earth can she be lecturing about chain of command when she had a relationship with Jack? See, I love you 24 fans, but this is why Jack O'Neill is more awesome than Jack Bauer. (*cough* Strangely I think I mean that is because O'Neill doesn't sleep with women, because Jack/Daniel still compromises his chain of command. Err... perhaps you should all ignore me.)

Milo! I &hearts Milo and not just because he's Eric Balfour (though that doesn't hurt).

Jack Bauer can have my babies. My on-the-edge, ass-kicking babies. And I know he gets even more kick ass, so I can't wait to see this transition. Especially because I'm fairly certain that his family dies at some point (and if I'm wrong, don't tell me).

I'd ask questions (because I have many), but honestly, I'm very happy to be unspoiled and confused. Yay for confusion! Actually I think the confusion is helping me watch a show that's been on for 6 years and all over because it's throwing me off the scent of spoilers.

So, 144 episodes at the end of this season, and I'm 8 episodes in. Thanks guys, thanks a lot.

::laughing so hard at your new addiction:: (My new addiction is Rome and it's only two seasons in total nyah. *g*)

Jack Bauer is very kickass, and the few times that he makes OOC mistakes, I blame the ptb. (I'm getting pretty good at doing that in a lot of shows, actually.) (Jack O'Neill is more awesome, but Jack Bauer's up there, as Jacks go. Also, they really need to be slashed.) Nina is pretty annoying, but she can be pretty kickass too. I admire that about her.

Do not laugh at my addiction! It is a sickness! ;)

(I've got the first season of Rome on loan as well. it's just that I borrowed 24 from a co-worker and I think she's more likely to want her DVDs back sooner.)

Who should Jack Bauer be slashed with? I haven't yet seen anything that screamed at me.

Yeah, Nina was all kick ass after Jack shot her so I'm reassessing my whole "I hate her" thing, but I'm still not loving her.

I kind of love Nina, and I also kind of hate her, but mostly I kind of love her. I hope you find some of this love for her later on. :)

(I really, really hate Jack!Wife, though. Like... a lot. Haaaate. And god, KIM. Fucking KIM. That bitch can just go... walk off a cliff or something, whatever.)

Also? Oh woeee six seasons. I HAVE TEN TO GET THROUGH.

I hate you. ::cries::

She's gotten better after Jack shot her, so maybe. But I'm still on the whole "You were a bitch" thing. 'Course I learned to love Cordy, too.

I kept wanting to smack Kim for 1. being such a teenager and 2. not being smart about being abducted. Run towards people, idiot, and not people who look like drug dealers! And hide your friend and then get help!! *headdesk*

Also, I'd like to point out that 10 seasons of SG-1 is 214 episodes. 6 seasons of 24 is 144 episodes. AND PRINCE OF TENNIS IS 178 EPISODES. :P Do not hate me. Hell, once you start reading Jack/Daniel you'll thank me.

LOL!

SG-1 IS SO MUCH CRACK YOU CANNOT HELP BUT LOVE THE GAY MILITARY BOYSSSSSS!

Actually, SGA is the crack show. Like seriously. I'm pretty sure all the writers take hits before they start pitching ideas.

CRAAAAAACK.
Yes, yes, I cannot help but love them, DAMN YOU!

I'm recruiting Lisa to watch SG-1 when she moves in, too, btw. Not sure where it falls atm, though... we're watching (not in this order) Buffy, Angel, Firefly, SPN, West Wing, VMars, Farscape, SG-1, possibly SGA, The Office... and that's not including out LotR extravaganza, or the anime... or the BOOKS. we're scary people.

*loves watching you flail* *g*

I get all fangirly when Jack kicks ass. I'm only at S3 but I got all excited about the prospect of S6 when I saw posters with the text "Jack's country needs him. Dead." because if that doesn't scream kick-ass with a huge dollop of angst, I don't know what does. *g*

I think as soon as I'm caught up to SG and Dr Who, I'll go back to 24. *misses Jack so much*

Also. Kim didn't bug me the first time round. But I re-watched the first episode recently and all I could do was yell at Kim for being omgsofrellingstupid. So yeah, in hindsight, she drives me crazy. I think it's because I know she continues to be utterly stupid for a good chunk of S1. *headdesk*

...I do not understand the appeal of this show, I really don't. I've been watching the eps with Michael in them, and I spent last night bad-mouthing it with my gf. It's so bad!

For me, I like action shows and I like ass-kicking characters and Jack Bauer fits the bill. (And, of course, I watch about a hundred tv shows so one can't exactly describe me as being terribly discerning about what I watch.)

It does take itself Very. Seriously. (especially this latest season, I've noticed), so perhaps some of your disillusionment is that? I'm not about to say that "everyone should watch it omg," but I'm enjoying it. It's actiony, tense, and fun. I'm not having to think too much while watching it. ;)

Eh, I think it takes itself way too seriously. Plus, the characters are more archetypes than actual characters, and the convention of each ep taking a real-time hour really bothers me. I watch sci fi, I know I have no right to ask for realism, but come on, guys.
