PSA: My internet has been out at home since yesterday afternoon. My online activities may be spotty for the next few days because of that. Hopefully the problem will be fixed by the time I get home. *crosses fingers*
Finding a Fandom Medium
Right now, my fandoms are being way too conflicting. Last Saturday was the 10th Anniversary of Buffy and filled with much Whedon joy and happiness. Next Friday (March 23rd) is the release of the new TMNT CGI movie and there’s all sorts of exciting goodies available online with sneak peeks. (The clip from Wondercon is here, if you haven’t seen it—omgawesome.)
And smack dab in the middle of these two exciting events is SG-1. One moment I’m flying high on excitement because of happiness in two of my first and favorite fandoms and the next I’m crashing down because it’s the “end” of my last great obsession. *sniffs* But I think this is all happening at the same time to remind me of something.
Buffy is celebrating 10 years and is coming back in the form of a Season 8 comic book series that’s going to be sanctioned by Joss and therefore canon (out today!).
TMNT is enjoying its fourth movie, 14 years after the last big screen feature. Not to mention that TMNT has survived at least 4 comic book runs that had to shut their doors and it’s in its second cartoon series. And that’s only scratching the surface of its life.
Fandom goes on. Creators find ways to resurrect their characters and shows. This isn’t the end for SG-1.
So even though my fandom heart is tugging in different directions, it’s all telling me the same thing: Fandom is unending.
I’m looking forward to an SG-1 mini-marathon tonight and saying a fond see-ya-soon to some of my favorite characters.

Hasn't the TMNT CGI movie been coming ever since, like, the days of our TMNT RPG?
It looks pretty good, too!
There are tentative plans for going to see it opening night. Care to join us?
You know you want to put
themthe first issues into my parcel(s), right? Just to make up for having me wait for forever.*pounce*
Would you like me to add you to my subscription and I can keep sending them to you as they come out?
Yes, put me up. And you don't have to send them as they come. Just send them with the parcel I am waiting for. I guess when you'll finally come around to send that, the series will be done. :p
*snuggles you bunches*
I hope you are having as much fun as I do getting my tongue sticked out at you? :p
I get my comics by mail once a month, and thus have no buffy yet . . . But I am really looking forward to it. Oh Joss, I <3 you so!
I am such a TMNT fan. I've been following it for about 20 years now. I love Raphael. *pets her little hot-headed trouble maker* In fact, TMNT is the reason I started reading Saiyuki.
I am so excited about this movie. I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it. :D
The new one... I must pop onto YouTube and check out the trailer (if there is one out already, that is?), as I've yet to see it. I've heard a fair bit about it, though, and actually my friend was talking about it the other day when he came to visit. Said the whole thing is CGI'd? I don't suppose they're getting the original voice actors to do the characters this time around... must go check up on it!
Totally. Raph is so the Emo Kid. Actually, Leo is fairly emo as well (which is totally why I love the two of them together. &hearts ). But Mike is all well-adjusted and jokey. And Don is all intellectual hermit.
I love Raph. Love, love, love him.
Extended Trailer. The movie is all CGI with all new voice actors. Actually Sarah Michelle Gellar is voicing April, which makes my mind explode just a little bit. XD I actually like all the voices they've chosen. And I have had issues with voices before, so I think that's saying something.
Going to go look up the voice actors now. I'm sure I recognised one or two of them. And yeah, haha, SMG is such a cool choice for someone like April. :)
It would surprise me if you had one.
"My husband died of a splinter."
Ba-dum-ching!
