"Nightwalkers" is basically an X-Files episode, which is why it's a terrible SG-1 episode. I mean, there's even that moment when Jonas and Teal'c walk into the bar and everyone turns around. That is so X-Files. (Is it "Bad Blood" that has a moment like that? It doesn't matter, 75% of X-Files episodes take place in small towns, so it could have been any of them.)

But Jonas also eats a ridiculous amount of food in this episode, and that's a thing I'm behind. Lollipop, toast, french fries in a milkshake, hamburger (with a knife and fork!—Jonas, you'll never pass as American), and a ginger ale. Yes, this episode has A+ food game.

Another positive to "Nightwalkers"? "Abyss" follows it.

Random Fact About Em: I've never written a fic set during Season 6, though I've written a fic that heavily references "Abyss." I am ready to admit by biases. I am also ready to try to write a fic set in Season 6 or that at least is based around Jonas.

LOL. One thing I've enjoyed about this rewatch is that I've hit a few episodes (like "Nightwalkers") and found something to enjoy, even if they're still weak episodes.

I didn't know you're a big Jonas fan! I grew to like him quite a bit when I watched S6 for the first time, one ep a week, in order (instead of the 3 Daniel ones, which is all I saw of S6 for years, heh.) He has a genuine character arc and it's very satisfying to watch him grow.

Still love Daniel best though. :)

I love Jonas! I started watching SG-1 around the time when Season 7 was airing, but I watched in order. I already knew who Corin Nemec was from Parker Lewis Can't Lose and was super excited to get to his season, so even though I fell in love with Daniel in between, I was still excited to see the character and get to know him. He's delightful! And yes, I very much agree that he has a real character arc that makes him more than a "replacement." (And I still don't know why there wasn't an episode or movie that involved freeing Kelowna from Ori control.)

Ha ha, I'm going to have to read that fic, yes.

Yessss, I love this fandom so much.

I even love that there are people who "don't get," for example, Jonas, but there's totally civil discourse. Maybe I've been lucky about finding people who are reasonable, but I've rarely gotten into a fight over SG-1 opinions.

I date back to the Daniel wars (when sites displayed "Daniel friendly" banners so you knew it was safe to post there as a Daniel fan) the ship wars (when slash fen were outed in RL, eugh). It wasn't pretty and those ugly times still raise their head sometimes. But, thankfully, these days, civility roooolz. Except when I'm presented with an icon of Jonas wielding a banana ... *VBG*

Yeah, I'm vaguely aware there was a major fight around shipping and that there were ruffled feathers about Daniel. I hadn't even watched the show back when that was happening! I think the worst experiences I've had were some dude at a con insisting that slash was strictly and only written because the female writers wanted to sleep with the characters/actors, and then again, at a con, having to dismantle a dude who wanted to assume that "women were not real fans."

It's not Bad Blood! That's my favorite X-Files episode, so I can say that with 99% certainty even with my shit memory. (seriously though bad blood is one of the most amazing pieces of tv ever made and i'll stop now before that's all i talk about.)

I wrote a weird-ass Jonas-centric-ish fic once upon a time. here, jackson 2.0 - just reread it and it is weird indeed. i don't even know if i still like it or not! i think mostly because i haven't seen sg-1 in so, so long that i can't tell if it still feels right. i feel very comment-lacking because it's been so long since i watched sg-1. i just got all of SGA but i still own no SG-1 and know of no option to watch it.

Free Hulu is more limited, so it might not be accessible or it might have commercials (but there is a totally free version). I have the SG-1 Box Set so I haven't watched via Hulu, I just know it's currently there.
