The other day katilara tells me about how her co-workers are being "annoying ridiculous." I ask her to explain what "annoying ridiculous" is and we then get into a discussion about the varying levels of ridiculousness. Clearly the culmination of this discussion is a color-coded chart to identify the varying levels of ridiculous. And thus I am proud to present to you, a chart that you can use to identify the current level of ridiculous in your life:



GREEN: FAIL!Ridiculous FAIL!Ridiculous is best defined as doing a month of work and then having someone completely unrelated to your work make an asinine decision that not only negates your work but makes no sense. So, it's not only ridiculous, but it's made of fail.

YELLOW: Asshat Ridiculous Asshat Ridiculous is reserved for times when your co-worker asks you what "btw" means . . . and then asks you again an hour later. Or when they ask you if a gift is called a "token" or a "Tolkien" and then in their email write "gift (token)." Mostly Asshat Ridiculous defines ridiculous moments worthy of a solid headdesk.

ORANGE: A Little Ridiculous Life's good when things are A Little Ridiculous. Your friends are posting fics in which your favorite characters duel with umbrellas, or your show off-handedly mentions canon gay. Your ridiculous levels aren't crazy high, but they're enough to put a smile on your face and maybe wish for a light post and a downpour so you can Gene Kelly your heart out.

RED: YAY!Ridiculous YAY!Ridiculous is when you can't take it any more and the ridiculous comes pouring out of your ears and all over anyone sitting nearby. Often accompanied by rocking out to your favorite songs; squeeling excessively; writing crack!fic; or making Venn diagrams to explain life, the universe, and everything; YAY!ridiculous has awesome powers of flail. YAY!Ridiculous can only be diminished by Captain McGrumpyPants, so avoid at all costs!!!

RAINBOW: Ryan Ross Ridiculous Ryan Ross Ridiculous is reserved for times when you cut open your friend and out spills unicorns, rainbows, and 70˚F weather. It's also for Fridays when you wear flip-flops to your responsible adult job and go on vending machine raids at 9 in the morning. Or have the desire to wear rose vests or paint ravens all over your face. It's pretty ridiculous.

And for those who know nothing about Panic at the Disco and Fall Out Boy, Pete Wentz (of Fall Our Boy) was stalked by Ryan Ross (Panic at the Disco) until Pete signed them. In an interview Pete was asked what the most ridiculous thing he'd ever bought was. His response? Ryan Ross. So ridiculous.
