Yes, that insane SG-1 thing I was talking about.
Haven’t you ever wondered what episode Dr. Frasier first appeared in, or how many times Daniel has been in the infirmary, or better yet, which member of SG-1 has gotten the most off-world sex? Look no further, I’m here to answer all your pressing questions with: SG-1 Fun Facts.
Inspired partly by Nick’s suggestion that we keep track of how many chicks Daniel and Jack have each tagged, this idea also pays homage to another set of Fun Facts which can be found on one of my favorite Buffy/Angel websites Loey’s Guide.
The basic idea of Fun Facts is that I will be tracking various categories over the complete run of SG-1. I’ll post Fun Facts for each episode as I finish them and will try to catch up to Season 8 when it’s possible. This post breaks down the categories and explains what they’re about.
These categories are spoiler free and all postings of SG Fun Facts will be clearly labeled (and put in Memories) for those of you who are still catching up. Some of the categories I have devised do not apply to the early seasons or will change slightly in later seasons. These categories will be introduced/altered as they appear (particularly as they are slightly spoilery).
On to the categories--
Planetary Tally on-going tally of the planets SG-1 has visited. Will include Season and Series totals.
Episodic References: references within each episode to other episodes.
Quote of the Week: my traditional quote of the week (it’s usually funny, and sometimes I choose more than one).
Introducing: first appearance of characters and important things (such as staff weapons).
Hello, Again: a list of the major recurring characters* that appear in each episode.
*regular SGC personnel such as Dr. Fraiser, the Chevron Guy, and Silar are not counted, but SGC personal that do not appear often such as Makepeace are noted.
Stargate Mythos: the on-going mythos of Stargate. This is rather lengthy for the first few episodes as the basic “rules” have to be established.
Fashion Week: which uniform SG-1 wears--it’s so cute when they match. Notable civis are also included.
Auto Destruct: on-going tally of the times the Auto-destruct is engaged. Will include Season and Series totals.
Full Body Exam: a list of the times Dr. Frasier has to examine SG-1.
Laid Up: on-going tally of the times SG-1 is admitted to the infirmary for a duration, broken down by team member. Will include Season and Series totals.
Brain Washing 101: on-going tally of the times someone/thing has messed with the brains/body chemistry of SG-1, broken down by team member. Will include Season and Series totals.
Chain of Command: a list of the times Jack is insubordinate* in each episode.
*my definition of “insubordination” is rather loose--basically whenever he’s sarcastic to a leading official or superior officer.
Putzing with Props: a list of the times Jack proves he’s ADD by fumbling with props (usually as a result of him not listening).
Daniel’s Dead: on-going tally of the times Daniel appears dead. Will include Season and Series totals.
Murray Alert: on-going tally of the times Teal’c is wearing a funny hat. Will include Season and Series totals.
Techno-Babble: a list of the times Sam slips into techno-babble in each episode; includes brief description of that techno-babble.
Good Luck, SG-1: on-going tally of the times Hammond utters the infamous line. Will include Season and Series totals.
There’s Always Room for Jello: seems like everyone in the SGC has a craving for jello; on-going tally of the times someone is eating jello. Will include Season and Series totals.
Stargate Scorin’: on-going tally of the aliens/humans that become sexually or romantically involved with a member of SG-1 (attractions that are not shared count), broken down by team member. Will include Season and Series totals.
Daniel Obsession: A section devoted to watching Daniel Jackson.
What’s the Daniel of it?: The Daniel aspect of the story (if Daniel doesn’t appear in the episode, or only appears for a short time, I will make up what he’s doing off camera).
Translation Time/Artifact Alley: a list of the times Daniel has to translate something or studies a random artifact or rock; includes mention of the text or artifact.
Caffeine Habit: a list of the times Daniel’s got coffee.
Headgear: on-going tally of the various hats Daniel wears. Will include Season and Series totals in the following categories: Bandana, Flak Helmet, Fly Hat, Other
Perfect Vision: a listing of every time he takes his glasses off.
Oh, Danny Boy: on-going tally of the times Daniel is called “Danny” or a nickname. Will include Season and Series totals.
Shooting a Load: on-going tally of the number of times Daniel fires a weapon. Will include Season and Series totals.
Mop Up, Aisle 5: drool worthy moments per episode.
I hope everyone enjoys these. I’m having a lot of fun putting this together.
On to Episode 1: "Children of the Gods" Fun Facts.
