Writery Pimp

For all the many writers on my flist, there's a new comm designed to help you [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout. Based around the idea that the only way to write is to, you know, write, [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout is designed to help writers stay motivated throughout the year by offering a goal and a community.

There are 4 levels of pledges (200K, 250K, 300K, and 350K) that you can pledge to write in 2009. We're counting words from any non-bloggy writing including original fiction, fanfic, nonfiction essays, scripts, poetry, songs, um greeting cards? Basically anything that can be considered a literary work (oh yes, I just called fanfic "literary").

[livejournal.com profile] sopdetly and I are spearheading this thing so you can expect group word wars, prompts, and other little motes of advice and encouragement. (Dudes, I have ideas.)

The introduction and guidelines are here, and once you join the community you can make your pledge. I hope some of you will join us or at least spread the word. We're planning to close the comm on January 1, so you have to join before then!

Get Your Words Out!

(Yes, I totally stole the comm name from the Wonderfalls episode "Karma Chameleon." FTW! \o/ )

OMG. I'm dying to see someone do 350K words of greeting cards now. XD

I'LL REMIND YOU IN DECEMBER OR SOMETHING.

[identity profile] sopdetly.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
NEXT December. Like, when we're almost at the end and struggling for ideas to get to our wordcount?

[identity profile] sopdetly.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Lies about what I meant? Or lies that we will ever be struggling? I need to know how defensive I should be. :P

[identity profile] sopdetly.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for clearing that up! :D

[identity profile] katilara.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
LIES ARE GOOD. I CERTAINLY WOULDN'T TELL THE TRUTH ON A NIGHT LIKE TONIGHT! *pulls on hoodie*

[identity profile] katilara.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
MORE LIKE THE TRUTH MAKES YOU NAKED AND THE NIGHT IS FULL OF COLD, BUT I SUPPOSE MEETING A FROST WARNING HEAD ON WHILE NAKED WOULD BE DANGEROUS, YES.

I may be making up the frost warning. I appropriated it from [livejournal.com profile] t_usual_suspect, but she's like, 3 hours away. >.>

[identity profile] katilara.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
GOOD MAN THEN!

Where would you find cause to use something like that?

[identity profile] greenwillow27.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Any group that can consider fan fic literary has won my heart. I am so there. =oD

[identity profile] wiccanslyr.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hey MANY of the fics I've read are FAR more literary than a great many of the published works out there!

[identity profile] greenwillow27.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
I can name half a dozen fan fic writers just off the top of my head that leave Stephanie Meyer and Laurel K. Hamilton in the dust.

Okay, maybe that's not saying much.
=op

I love that so much, I almost want to join....even though I'm never around and even though I haven't written anything in about seven years. Hah.

I love the idea. It's another example among the multitudes for your awesomeness.

[identity profile] mirankos.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oopsy! Hats off to [livejournal.com profile] sopdetly, then! :D

I foresee great fun and success for the comm :)

[identity profile] sopdetly.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! :D I really hope that it'll be a good time!

(butting in)

You are not alone--for various, some pretty dramatic reasons (illness and death of my spouse, then falling head-over-heels for someone new), the last six years have been very unwriterly for me, too. And that is after selling two freakin' books, geesh! NUTS! And I say ENOUGH!!!

I hope you jump in!

(butting out again)

[identity profile] wiccanslyr.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oh AWESOME!

*runs over to join*

[identity profile] wiccanslyr.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
The best part of this is that just yesterday I was thinking of going back to revive my "Daily Pompts" things I was doing a while ago. It's like-- faith or something equally deep! ;-)

[identity profile] wiccanslyr.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Oh and can I steal your pimpage to make some further pimpage to the folk on my flist what need to be pimped?

[identity profile] surferartchick.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been looking for icons from that MAC/PC vid do you know were more are?

[identity profile] paragraphs.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
kiss kiss smooch smooch smooooch!!! LOVE IT!!!!

I'm with a tiny post-nano group that has decided to stay together, but this looks much crazier.

Off I go!

Wonderful, em!

[identity profile] katiefoolery.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds kinda... seriously awesome, really. I'm going to have a good hard think about joining and getting back into some serious writing.

[identity profile] audrich.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG... I want to do this... I don't think I have the guts *finger hovers over button*

mmmmmmmm uuuuuuuuuuuu

[identity profile] surferartchick.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if I'm gonna do it or not. This next year looks REALLY busy. But' I can Pimp!

[identity profile] natsuko1978.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay. I've failed NaNo two years in a row because my health keeps falling apart. I don't really want to FAIL at something ELSE I volunteer for.

Support, encouragement, etc sounds good. I'd LIKE to sign up... but...

Shame you don't have a 120k or 150k pledge. 10k words or so a month would allow for a couple of months of health-fail :(

On the other hand... no job...(;.;) I'll have TIME...

On the other other hand, no job may well mean no net. I don't know yet. (;_;) While I'm living with my parents I'll only be allowed to access emails. :( And YES, my Dad tells me what I can and cannot do... since it's on his computer and he has net-fear. Sites like LJ leave him open to hackers, he thinks. *sigh*

Shit.

I don't know what to do. :( I'll shut up now.
